ZIDOO X8 - Comments

Advantages: This device has it all when it comes to Media Playback. It runs Android 6 and it supports HDMI 2.0a with 4K HDR10 output. With this device there is no needs for an HTPC anymore. It's an powerful android device that does what it says at this price. I'm happy I bought it, but I hope for some minor improvments for the next version in future. Recommended !

Limitations: I would love to see this device run Android 7 or 8, with Dolby Vision support.

Advantages: Great TV box. Everything is working fine. Just plug and play. BD 3D ISO Framepacking is working.

Limitations: No cons at all.

Advantages: Set up was easy, nice GUI but I use my own Nova launcher for versatility. Good quality TV box but needs a bit of setting up at first with a manual firmware upgrade etc I already have a Xidoo X9S and while similar hardware, it's firmware and build is much better for a little more money.

Limitations: Box arrived with years old formware version. Upgrade to latest firmware is not over the air, despite the device appearing to have that facility. You have to go to the Zidoo website to copy a zip file to a USB stick and flash the box that way. This upgrade was essential for us as one streaming video site we have a paid subscription to just wouldn't live stream. The upgrade fixed it. The Audio settings are not quite right even on latest firmware. We choose to have video via HDMI as you do, but Audio via spdif to our hifi amp. Sure we get audio via the spdif to our amp, but it's still audible on the TV. Android version needs upgrade to Nougat. Tiny 8GB storage means all large downloads have to be directed/transferred to an external drive.

Advantages: Paly all video movies HD formats 3d mkv, play all audio HD sounds true HD, Atmos, DD, external subtitle all format The best player, Full speed WiFi excellent, the lan is more power, (no problem with streaming any more) Recommended I'm happy with this player

Advantages: Delivered quickly. The prefix is executed qualitatively. Setup took a minimum of time. Everything is intuitively clear.

Limitations: The software is not updated by air yet. There are no critical bugs. The last up-to-date software update should be installed manually, but the manufacturer regularly releases updates
