Review Poptel P10

Released in August 2018, the Poptel P10 is declared by the manufacturer as the thinnest rugged smartphone in a shockproof and waterproof case. In addition to the rugged design, it offers modern specs: IP68 rating, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB ROM, NFC function for contactless payment and many other things, which we will discuss in our today's review. Our system rated the device at 6.45 points.

Design

The body of the device is made of rubber and metal with textured plastic covering the rear panel. The phone comes in five colors: gray, blue and orange, green and black. Shock-resistant phones are usually slightly thicker than regular mobile devices. Poptel P10 is 12 mm thick.

The front panel is equipped with a display, above which there are a receiver, flashlight, and front camera.

On the rear are a camera, flashlight, and fingerprint scanner. Since this is a budget model, there is no dual camera, heart rate monitoring function. It is worth noting that the fingerprint scanner does not always respond quickly.

Metal side panels removable. They are easy to remove with a screwdriver. On the right side, there is a volume rocker and a power button, and on the left side, there is a hybrid slot for two SIM cards or one SIM card and a memory card.

There is also a function button that launches the camera and is used as a shutter button, which is very useful if you are in a dangerous situation, or wearing gloves. It is located on the right side.

The micro USB port and headphone jack are hidden behind waterproof rubber plugs at the bottom of the phone.

Design gets 1.59 points.

Display

The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 640 pixels. The screen size and aspect ratio of 18: 9 is great for surfing the Internet and 3D games.

With this aspect ratio, the smartphone turned out to be slightly narrower than the P9000 Max, which has a 5.5-inch screen with a 16: 9 aspect ratio.

The screen received 3.27 points in the system.

Hardware

Poptel P10 is powered by MediaTek MT6763 Helio P23. It is an octa-core processor, which consists of four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocking at 2.0 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocking at 1.5 GHz. Mali-G71 is responsible for graphics. Poptel comes with 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB ROM.

The performance of the Poptel P10 system is slightly higher than the average - 7.68 points. This performance rating refers to the ability to process any textual information, playing video and most Android games without any problems. It is obvious that the smartphone will not pull the modern games on the high settings. However, they can be played at medium or low settings. In particular, we tested the smartphone playing Pokemon Quest, Alto’s Odyssey and Helix Jump - three games that are new and relatively popular on the platform. Game download time was completely disappointing. Sometimes you had to wait about 20 or 30 seconds. No lags, bugs, glitches, and freezes were found in the gaming process. Everything worked smoothly and quickly.

Camera

The main camera takes amazingly sharp images thanks to the Sony IMX135 13 MP sensor. As for the functions, it’s great that the manufacturers have installed a special button for working with the camera, but it’s bad that there is no Face ID function.

The front camera with  8 MP Samsung 4H8 sensor takes good photos. 

The cameras received 7.52 points.

Battery

The device comes with 3,600 mAh powerful battery. A good battery that can provide one and a half days of average use. The battery received 7.9 points in the system.

OS

The device works under the operating system Android 8.1 which is covered by the original user interface from Poptel.

The system gave the operating system 9.18 points.

Conclusion

Poptel P10 has an excellent battery, a useful function button for working with the camera, a shockproof and waterproof case and a large display. We recommend it to buy!
