The speed with which Xiaomi releases new models sometimes scares - there is a risk of becoming confused in this diversity. Only Huawei can compete with this company. However, in the case of the “A” series, everything is much simpler. This is a series of smartphones on “pure Android,” included in the Google Android One program. 

Today, we are going to talk about Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite – the lite version of A2.

Design

Unlike its older brother, Mi A2 Lite is made entirely in the spirit of the modern time and has all the “fashionable” signs. The notch, which places the speaker, sensors and front camera. The display with aspect ratio of 19: 9 and rounded edges. There is also a notification LED on the device, which is not embedded in the notch, but is mounted on the bottom bezel. A very unusual decision from the company. 

The back panel of the device is made of plastic. There are inserts on top and at the bottom – they hide antennas. The dual rear camera is located in the upper left corner with the flashlight. Manufacturers placed the flashlight between the primary and secondary shooters. The fingerprint scanner was built into the top of the back panel.

The volume and power buttons are located on the right side. These are the only physical keys on the device.

A tray for two SIM cards is located on the left. Great news - the tray supports the use of two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time.

Unlike the Mi A2, its younger brother is equipped with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It is located on top. Also, there are a microphone and IR-blaster.

At the bottom of the device is a micro USB port, which is surrounded by two acoustic grilles (there is only one speaker).

Now, there is three color options: black, blue and gold. For China, two more colors are available, pink and red.

Display

The smartphone has a 5.84-inch display with a 19: 9 aspect ratio. The resolution is standard for 2018 - 2220 x 1080 pixels. Screen technology - IPS. The density is 432 pixels per inch. The screen is bright and contrast (the contrast ratio of 1 500: 1) with rich colors and without distortion (84% NTSC color gamut).

The design of the display uses a screen protector of an unknown manufacturer. Alas, it was not possible to find information about what kind of protective glass is installed in Mi A2 Lite. The screen has an oleophobic coating.

The display got 8,49 points.

Hardware

The smartphone is budget one and is equipped with an entry-level hardware.

In our case, this is the option with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. There is also more powerful option with 4/64 GB respectively.

Both versions are powered by octa-core Snapdragon 625. The graphics is Adreno 506.

The hardware copes with daily task - the smartphone works smartly and does not friezes in the menus and applications. Sometimes there are light friezes when scrolling through long lists.

If you plan to play modern games like PUBG, so be prepared for mid settings and 40 FPS.

Performance gets 8,59 points in our system. The Antutu test showed 78, 304 points. The detailed results are presented below:

Camera

Taking into account the budget model, we cannot expect a flagship quality. However, the main camera (12 MP Sony IMX 486, f / 2.2, 1.25μm + 5 MP secondary), due to the presence of the secondary module, takes quite good photos both in a place with acceptable sunlight and low light condition. 

Having a higher aperture ratio, the front camera (5 MP Samsung S5K5E8, f / 2.0) allows you to take good pictures, but because of the imperfection of the algorithms, the picture is periodically overexposed. 

Our system gave cameras 7,05 points.

Battery

One of the main advantages of the Mi A2 Lite is 4000 mAh battery. During periods of intensive use, the battery lasts for a day and a half. 

The battery receives 8,28 points.

OS

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite comes with Android 8.1 Oreo. Given that the phone belongs to the Android One series, we can expect updates over a few years from Google.

Initially, Android One was positioned as an operating system for inexpensive smartphones, but was later replaced by another budget operating system called Android Go. Currently, Android One will completely replace the Google Play Edition program, in which manufacturers have released special versions of devices without branded skins on pure Android.

OS receives a mark of 9,05 points.

Conclusion

The smartphone is very good and comfortable. It has good hardware and software. The device contains all the necessary elements of a modern device at a reasonable price. We recommended it to buy!
