Review OUKITEL C12 Pro
19/06/2018 Threads: 82 Posts: 82
Android-based smartphones of 2018 are known not only for bezel-less design and a “notch,” but also for a good price-performance ratio. On the other hand, only expensive flagship smartphones are ready to boast a nice design, while the low-end options out emphasize on the specs. The Chinese company Oukitel decided to make a difference and released an ultra-affordable smartphone with a good design, but not specs. The new device is called Oukitel C12 Pro. The smartphone has some interesting features, such as facial recognition technology, a stylish design, and a bezel-less screen. More information on the model is in the review.
The device gets a mark of 4,14 points.

Package
The package includes a smartphone, a protective case, a power adapter, a SIM-eject tool, a USB cable, and manual.
There is power adapter 5V 1A. It is not good at all. The company could easily equip the device with a fast charging technology, having achieved at least something original and useful.
Design
Being a budget phone, it is not equipped with a metal case. Instead, you receive the smooth plastic body. However, the company used celluloid coating that reflects light well, creating a glossy look.
Oukitel C12 is a smartphone that has the appearance of something resembling famous brands, in particular, Samsung, but with a lower price. The front panel offers its user a large screen and a notch like that of the iPhone X, which houses standard sensors, a receiver, and a front camera. At the bottom, there is a rather large bezel, but against the screen, it does not seem so big.
In the upper part of the front panel, there are compactly located sensors, LED notification light, a receiver, and front camera.
As for the back of the smartphone, it has a standard set: dual camera, flashlight, and fingerprint scanner. The camera bulges slightly. At the bottom of the back panel are the company logo and a speaker.
The volume rocker and the power button are on the right side.
The left side is empty.
On top of the device, there are an audio jack (3.5mm) and MicroUSB port. If the location of audio jack is in standard position, then the position of micro USB port - strange decision.
At the bottom of the device is a noise-canceling microphone.
Oukitel C12 Pro has a removable back panel. Since we were not aware of this, we were delightfully surprised. Exactly up to that moment, when we realized that a removable back panel does not always mean a removable battery.
If we remove rear panel, then we can see a place for two SIM-card slots and separate space for MicroSD.
Thanks to a plastic body with rounded edges, it is easy to hold Oukitel in hand. We do not think that the Chinese manufacture thought about ergonomics, but this model came out comfortable.
The design receives 7,52 points.
Display
The display has a 6.18-inch IPS panel, which has an aspect ratio of 19: 9 and is protected by Asahi Tough glass. This ratio gives the phone compact design and convenient to use.
The technical specs of the display are not good, except for the IPS-panel. The screen resolution is only 960 × 480 pixels. This means that the pixel density is only 179 pixels per inch. The big display and modest resolution greatly affect the quality of the displayed information on the device.
The display gets 1,86 points.
Hardware
The Oukitel C12 Pro is an entry-level budget device. It runs on a MediaTek MT6739 (quad-core processor with a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz). As for the memory, the device has a modest memory of RAM - 2 GB (LPDDR3). Many modern phones are equipped with big RAM, but there are also representatives with one GB on board, which is why the Oukitel C12 Pro appears to be average. RAM operates in single-channel mode at a frequency of 667 MHz. The amount of flash memory is also not big - 16 GB. However, the obvious solution is to use a memory card.
Smartphone hardware provides good performance for running applications and games. Of course, you can try to run heavy games, for example, PUBG Mobile, but do not forget to choose low graphics settings.
In terms of security, the Oukitel C12 Pro offers facial recognition technology via front camera and a fingerprint scanner on the rear.
The system rated the performance at 4,42 points. The Antutu tests showed 43089 points. More information on tests can be seen below:
Camera
The phone has a dual main camera. It consists of an 8-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary one. Photo quality is average.
On the front panel, we have a 5-megapixel front camera. It also takes average photos.
The cameras got 1,53 points.
Battery
Oukitel C12 Pro has a battery with a capacity of 3300mAh. This battery is enough for 12-13 hours of active work or 3 hours for games.
Battery receives 7,08 points.
Software
The operating system is a relatively new Android 8.1 (Oreo). The Chinese manufacturer could not touch the application menu, so software looks like it was intended by Google. There are no third-party applications.
OS gets a mark of 8,93 points.
Conclusion
Oukitel C12 Pro has a good battery, dual camera, average hardware, and luxurious design. As for the disadvantages of the device, we can note the screen resolution. If you are not picky about picture quality, then you can buy it.
